Before I was a Mom.....

I haven't posted in a while, but I am sure you can guess what a whirlwind it has been! We will post more soon, I promise!

Before I was a Mom: I cleaned my house each day. I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom: I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night to watch a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom: I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put them down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt! I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never know I could love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom: I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside of my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important.

Before I was a Mom: I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every ten minutes to make sure all was ok. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.

Any day now.....

Any time you are ready Maddie, we are waiting for you.... Don't get me wrong I'm sure I will miss the punches to the bladder, the foot in my ribs, the heartburn (a girl needs hair though, so I understand), and the fact that you are sitting on a nerve making it nearly impossible to get in and out of the car/bed/office chair.... I would much rather you join us! The house is clean, your room is finished, and all of your clothes are washed and ready for you! Whenever you are ready, we are waiting for you!

For now it's just a waiting game.....

You're going to miss this...

"You're going to miss this
You're going to want this back
You're going to wish these days
Hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're going to miss this....."

After hearing that Madeline will be arriving on 3/23 (as long as she doesn't try and escape on her own) I immediately thought of this song. As much discomfort as she causes me with her foot in my rib cage, or when she sits on my bladder/lungs, the fact that I have a hard time putting my own socks and shoes on, and even walking up the stairs at times - I will miss my girl always being with me. She has been my sidekick for 9 months, and although I am psyched that I will get to hold her and smooch her face soon, I will miss the kicks, hiccups, rolling etc.... So for the next 4 weeks, Maddie and I will go about our usual routine that we have developed, and Anthony and I will really cherish our last couple of weeks together as 2-fer until we become a family of 3!!!

Remember when.......

Remember when Madeline looked like a gummy bear??

Look at her now - not the best picture, but the ultrasound tech said it is difficult to get her picture because she is so big now!

Shower pictures!

Just a few to share.... The double chin pictures had to be eliminated :)

It was an overall wonderful day, and we are so thankful for all the wonderful gifts we received. We are so lucky to have such fabulous family and friends!

Brace yourself, we gotta big one!

We made our way to the hospital yesterday for a scheduled ultrasound. I don't know if we were quite ready for what we were to find out. Our precious, adorable little girl was 7 pounds already! The doctor said that we should plan for a C Section, due to her girth and LARGE head. She is in the 95 percentile and healthy. As of this point, unless Lisa goes into labor, we are going back on March 16th. At that point they will setup the date for Maddie's grand entrance. T minus 28 says til we find out! (Unless she decides she wants to come early) Attached is Vegas's response when we told here Maddie was comin home soon.

Superbowl Sunday Shenanigans!

This is how the Lanza family spent their Superbowl Sunday -

Madeline doesn't really care for football, so she decided to give her Mommy and Daddy quite a scare by causing some pre-term labor! I started feeling funny when I first woke up, and as the day went on I felt more and more contractions. Around 5:30, I knew something was wrong - and decided to call my Dr's office who asked us to come to the hospital to get checked. Off we went to the hospital, I was hooked up to a bunch of monitors, and Madeline was watched for a couple of hours. Preterm labor was the final diagnosis, and I have to be take it easy for a little while - Madeline has some more cookin' to do in there!! Our ultrasound is still scheduled for Monday, and we are excited to see when we can expect to see our little girl - hopefully not before 37 weeks!
This weekend was also our shower! Madeline received some VERY nice things, that we are so grateful for!  She is very lucky to have such wonderful family and friends.  A special thank you to my Mom, Sissy and Mother in law, for making the day so wonderful! Stay tuned for pictures!

Of all the things I've lost... I miss my FEET the most!

Or... maybe it's my ankles (hello cankles!)..... or my innie belly button.... or... I'll stop right there, because in a mere 6 weeks (about) Madeline will be making her grand entrance into this crazy world, and it will all be worth it!

I probably should have been a good Mommy and started a blog when I FIRST got pregnant... but, it's ok, I will keep up with this mini questionnaire for the next 6 weeks, at least! :)

How far along: 32 weeks!!
Best moment this week:
All this movement (see below)
Movement: LOTS! Madeline beat her Daddy up on Saturday while laying on the couch, and I think he may have even gotten a high five from her the other night... She is very active, and I feel her moving around in there a TON! I think her little "town house" is getting to be a little small for her though, and she may be looking for a new place to live soon - I hear Southington is nice!
What I am looking forward to: My shower on the 6th, our ultrasound on the 15th, holding Maddie for the first time, andddd MATERNITY LEAVE! :)
Milestones: I am feeling pretty good these days, just LARGE and in CHARGE!

We have a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks, and we can't wait to see everyone on the 6th - get your party pants on :)

First Post!

Welcome to our blog! 65 Days til Maddie's due date :)

So far we know that she will be coming a little early. Lisa is off to the doctor tomorrow for her routine check up. On the 15th of February we will find out when she is coming. As of right now she is breach ( a typical Lanza - making nothing easy ). As of 28 weeks, Maddie was weighing in at a hefty 3lbs, 6 oz. and measuring 33 weeks. Something tells me this isnt as exact a science as the make it out to be. The shower is right around the corner and we are all excited to see our family.

Lisa spent the night painting some pictures for Maddie's room (pictures to follow). We have had quite a ride with this little girl's room. We built her a custom closet to hold the tons of clothes that she already has - hey she likes to look good. As of now she has in excess of 10 pairs of shoes, I think that is more than her mom and dad have. That's it for now.........
